Agnes Lillian Anderson Nilsen

Agnes Lillian Anderson Nilsen died the morning of July 16, 2012. She was 89 years old.
   Born in Seattle, Washington on Dec 20, 1922, Agnes grew up in Edmonds, Washington where she attended schools including Edmonds High School where she graduated. She was captian of the tumbling team and a 4 stripe letter girl in tennis. Her best friend in High School was Teiko Mafune Johnson who remained a good friend throughout her life. 
  Agnes grew up with two older brothers, the late John S. Anderson and the late Hugo A. Anderson. Her parents were the late Peter John Anderson and the late Elizabeth K. Anderson.   Agnes attended business school  and later worked as a bookkeeper at the Lumberman's Association in the Smith Tower, Seattle, Washington.
  Agnes met Robert Lewis Nilsen after the 2nd World War and on Aug 16, 1947 they were married. Their first home was in Lake City, Washington where they had two children, Robert A. Nilsen and Christine Anne Nilsen. Agnes and Robert later moved to Edmonds, Washington where they enjoyed many years. Their neighbors the Millers and Subcliffs were some of their closest friends there.

  Agnes was an avid sports fan following the Washington Huskies, Seattle Mariners, Seattle Seahawks and the Seattle SuperSonics. She attended many of the home games the Washington Huskies played from the early 60’s to the mid 90’s.  She kept following them on tv and radio thereafter. She knew most of the players by name and position and kept a collection of Husky programs. Agnes was very active herself playing in the women’s league at Skagit Golf & Country Club, where she was the first woman to have a hole in one in league play there. She was also an accomplished bowler at Lynnwood Lanes in Lynnwood, Wa and Riverside Lanes in Mt Vernon, Wa. Where she had an all spare game and many other high score benchmarks.    After the children were raised she worked as a Real Estate Agent for Town & Country Realty in Lynwood, Wa. When her husband retired they moved to Hansville, Wa. where they enjoyed their semi retirement, living on Skunk Bay.
  Agnes is survived by her two children mentioned earlier, her grandchildren Robert Rey Nilsen and Mark Steven Nilsen & wife Monica. Her great-grandchildren Luke Nilsen, Nathan Nilsen, Christopher Nilsen, Timothy Nilsen, Sara Nilsen, Robert R. Nilsen Jr., and Osten Hale. Very close to Agnes was her two brothers, the late Hugo A. Anderson and wife Pauline and their children Jeanne G. Hannah and Carol L. Anderson. The late John S. Anderson and his wife Lois and their children Judy Howard and Jack Anderson. There are too many great nieces and nephews to mention here but she kept track of and loved each and every one of them.
